A number of major electronics industry players like Intel, AMD, Dell, Lenovo, Samsung, and LG have agreed to enhance the implementation of DisplayPort and HDMI interfaces significantly. In fact in 2015, both Intel and AMD will no longer support analog display output such as VGA (Video Graphics Array) and panel LVDS (Low Voltage Differential Signaling Technology).
It is considered important because the laptop has been getting smaller and slender, with DisplayPort and HDMI will support higher resolutions and color deeper than VGA, old school technology that is currently over the age of 20 years. In addition, the required power consumption is also lower so that it can make the battery more durable, clear VP of Intel, Eric Mentzer.
DisplayPort has many advantages that menjadikanya superior choice compared to LVDS, the previous standard for LCD panel input. A course such as power consumption, bi-directional communication (both directions), and efficiency design.
"So by moving to the newer DisplayPort interface this, then we can focus on new innovations to enhance the PC experience, rather than having to try and resolve the challenge to support the analog interface on the latest technology products and processes," added Eric Mentzer.
Want to switch to HDMI? Still there are 5 more years until the analog replaced.
